<em>Reflections from the heart:</em> intimate and provocative
An eclectic assortment of sensitive, reflective, and occasionally spiritual short stories relates the experiences of an adventurous seeker and world traveler. Never a mere spectator of life, but always fully participating, L. Reynolds Andiric relays stories of intimate connections with nature and family as well as memorable exchanges with individuals randomly encountered along life’s way. Each tale conveys an insightful experience that broadened not only the author’s understanding of earth’s creatures—animal as well as human—but served to alter how the world is viewed.
These accounts implore the reader to also appreciate and preserve the natural world and to cherish, honor, and respect all of humanity, regardless of our differences.
Poignant, humorous, contemplative—sometimes a bit tense, these adventures will leave you wondering, <em>What will be next?</em><br />

<strong>Ever dated someone and felt the need to take drastic measures to preserve your feelings? </strong><br />
<br />
Yeah, me too! You want to give more of you, show more of yourself, and open up a little more. But, you're afraid! You’re afraid that something so sweet could become so bitter. So you caution yourself… See, the beauty in Robot Love is it doesn't have to end! So, take your time and be mindful of your emotions. But, keep in mind that, it's OK for one Robot to love, and miss another.<br />
<br />
<strong>Have you ever received a call from someone and felt the need to go into IMMEDIATE Prayer?</strong><br />
<br />
You think, "Lord, should I answer this call?" Sometimes, you have to push the call-end button. Quite frankly, I find myself doing it more often. It’s not because I don’t want to be of service, but it’s hard to help someone who becomes rebellious against assistance. So, help if you can. But, know that it’s OK to let him/her go so you can grow.<br />
<br />
<strong>Remember when you were a kid and had imaginary talks with yourself about growing up?</strong><br />
<br />
Yeah me too! I can still hear my mother saying, “You better stay a child as long as you can.” Momma told me there would be days when I wish I were still a kid. And you know what? “She ain’t ever lied!” Despite my age, I still need her help. I never anticipated facing so many challenges as an adult. From me to you…Just be careful with what you wish.<br />

Shereese Battle, a certified and credentialed Life Coach, Spiritual Advisor, and Therapist, is a devoted woman of Christ, and the mother of two: Chynah (seventeen) and Ayden (five). Born and raised in Portsmouth, VA, she relocated to California in 2010. After losing her mother in December 2009, Shereese was broken and shattered. However, she sought healing and instead of being defeated by grief, she used wisdom and prayer to help ease the pain. This was the beginning of her new life.

With the desire of making others feel, think, and smile, author John Langfeld shares a diverse collection of aurally and visually unique poetry written over the course of more than thirty years of working with language as a technology.
Influenced by the ideas, themes, and poetic devices that have tested both him and his students over the years, Langfeld offers poems that explore relationships, induce laughter, illustrate brevity, and present his unique voice. From a voyeur’s prize to the hidden persuaders in our society, Langfeld takes others on an entertaining lyrical ride through humility, political confusion, and spell check hell as he contemplates modern life and all it encompasses.
<em>
There’s a Brevitist Loose in the Condensory </em>shares a compelling collection of verse that offers an unforgettable glimpse into one man’s views about the world. “Powerful. Energetic. Stunning. [Your work is] … not just trickery because of what the actual language says to and about the world. I have never seen anything like what you do, the combination of humor and power. Harness that voice. Balance the coy and ironic with the other side.”
—Daniel Khalastchi, faculty for the Iowa Summer Writing Festival
“Tightly spun … Controlled. A tight weave. Your poems are displays of virtuosity, but will they break a heart?”
—Douglas Goetsch, faculty for the Iowa Summer Writing Festival.<br />

I know, it was only two questions but it really hit the nail on the head. Here's what it had to say:<br />
<br />
You are a <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0247079/" rel="imdb" title="Bette (TV series)">Bette</a> -- "I must be strong"<br />
<br />
Bettes are direct, self-reliant, self-confident, and protective.<br />
<br />
How to Get Along with Me<br />
* Stand up for yourself... and me.<br />
* Be confident, strong, and direct.<br />
* Don't gossip about me or betray my trust.<br />
* Be vulnerable and share your feelings. See and acknowledge my tender, vulnerable side.<br />
* Give me space to be alone.<br />
* Acknowledge the contributions I make, but don't flatter me.<br />
* I often speak in an assertive way. Don't automatically assume it's a personal attack.<br />
* When I scream, curse, and stomp around, try to remember that's just <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.amazon.com/Way-I-Am-Knoc-Turnal/dp/B00011D1CW?SubscriptionId=0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82&tag=zemanta-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00011D1CW" rel="amazon" title="The Way I Am">the way I am</a>.<br />
<br />
What I Like About Being a Bette<br />
* being independent and self-reliant<br />
* being able to take charge and meet challenges head on<br />
* being courageous, straightforward, and honest<br />
* getting all the enjoyment I can out of life<br />
* supporting, empowering, and protecting those close to me<br />
* upholding just causes<br />
<br />
What's Hard About Being a Bette<br />
* overwhelming people with my bluntness; scaring them away when I don't intend to<br />
* being restless and impatient with others' incompetence<br />
* sticking my neck out for people and receiving no appreciation for it<br />
* never forgetting injuries or injustices<br />
* putting too much pressure on myself<br />
* getting high <a class="zem_slink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_pressure" rel="wikipedia" title="Blood pressure">blood pressure</a> when people don't obey the rules or when things don't go right<br />
<br />
Bettes as Children Often<br />
* are independent; have an inner strength and a fighting spirit<br />
* are sometimes loners<br />
* seize control so they won't be controlled<br />
* figure out others' weaknesses<br />
* attack verbally or physically when provoked<br />
* take charge in the family because they perceive themselves as the strongest, or grow up in difficult or abusive surroundings<br />
<br />
Bettes as Parents<br />
* are often loyal, caring, involved, and devoted<br />
* are sometimes overprotective<br />
* can be demanding, controlling, and rigid<br />

If you look close you can still see the iv mark on her hand. She is in a newborn outfit, she did drop some <a class="zem_slink" title="Weight" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weight" rel="wikipedia">weight</a> and nothing fit her right, but htat was ok, she was still a little peanut.<br /><br />I think of everything that we have been through in the past 5 years and what the future holds. I am proud to call this little girl my daughter. She has her moments, but for the most part I wouldn't change a thing.<br /><br />One of my favorite things is how loving she is. She tells me every day that no matter how old she gets she will never stop cuddling with me (as a <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SWJgARiSFLI/AAAAAAAAAgo/1NTjgQW5Ns4/s1600-h/Picture+264.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287894470309844146" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SWJgARiSFLI/AAAAAAAAAgo/1NTjgQW5Ns4/s320/Picture+264.jpg" border="0" /></a>parent I know that this will end, sooner rather than later, but I keep my hopes high that it will last for quite awhile yet.<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SWJgA1M_t0I/AAAAAAAAAgw/ELJMKcWLGbg/s1600-h/Picture+507.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287894479884236610" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 182px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SWJgA1M_t0I/AAAAAAAAAgw/ELJMKcWLGbg/s320/Picture+507.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />She also asked me if now that she was 5, it meant that she couldn't snuggle in bed with us anymore. She has a bad habit (as well as my younger daughter, <a class="zem_slink" title="Ella (singer)" href="http://www.ella.com.my/" rel="homepage">Ella</a>) of getting up in the <a class="zem_slink" title="Night" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night" rel="wikipedia">middle of the night</a> and crawling in bed with my hubby and I. I know that I should take them back to their own beds, but I am greedy for the time with them so I leave them. They will be on their own soon enough.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SWJgBfoAbmI/AAAAAAAAAhA/_YZPEKMcA1I/s1600-h/100_0371.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287894491271818850" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 241px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SWJgBfoAbmI/AAAAAAAAAhA/_YZPEKMcA1I/s320/100_0371.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />So, tonight it's off to the restaurant of her choice. She would normally choose <a class="zem_slink" title="Chinese language" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_language" rel="wikipedia">Chinese</a>, but because they won't sing happy birthday to her we think she might want to go to The <a class="zem_slink" title="Olive Garden" href="http://www.olivegarden.com/" rel="homepage">Olive Garden</a>. <br /><br />I don't care as long as I get to spend the day with her. Having the kids has helped renew my joy (somewhat) but I just don't really enjoy this holiday. I know that I am really in the minority when it comes to that, but it is such a stressful time of year for me.<br /><br /><br /><br /><p> </p><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280376736138512290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 150px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 160px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SUeqqjXFx6I/AAAAAAAAAd4/GcWLykmxWdQ/s320/heat+mizer+and+snow+mizer.jpg" border="0" /><br />But, the other night <a class="zem_slink" title="The Year Without a Santa Claus" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Year_Without_a_Santa_Claus" rel="wikipedia">The Year Without a Santa Claus</a> was on. I have to admit - this is my favorite Christmas special..hands down. And, I am pleased to say that my girls have really taken a liking to it. Grace was singing the Heat Mizer and Snow Mizer songs all day. Then I remembered that a few years ago my mom gave me a copy. So guess what we watched again? And are going to watch again today? It's ok - I don't mind. We pop up popcorn and the four of us snuggle in the living room watching it. That's what Christmas and family is all about.</p><p>Have a great night!</p><br /><div class="zemanta-pixie" style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><a class="zemanta-pixie-a" title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/4923eced-9001-4cdf-9e26-b20a51727745/"><img class="zemanta-pixie-img" style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=4923eced-9001-4cdf-9e26-b20a51727745" /></a></div>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-66668186066466508672008-12-14T16:08:00.000-08:002008-12-14T16:19:10.238-08:00Book Lovin' PenpalsWell, it's been a pretty productive day. I worked for awhile this morning and have this week all set...or at least as set as I can get it. Then it was time to focus on house and <A class=zem_slink title="Family (biology)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_%28biology%29" rel=wikipedia>family</A> stuff. Had to get the kids clean and they both wanted to try taking a <A class=zem_slink title=Shower href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shower" rel=wikipedia>shower</A> today. It was kind of funny because they are only 3 and 4 so I had to help them with everything, but if they wanted to try who was I to stop them. <br /><br />I made a big pot of chili for <A class=zem_slink title=Supper href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supper" rel=wikipedia>supper</A>. We actually had some <A class=zem_slink title="Freezing rain" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freezing_rain" rel=wikipedia>freezing rain</A> today and now we are due for some more snow. Don't think driving is going to be a whole lot of fun tomorrow.<br /><br />Another thing that I did was create a group on ning called Book Lovin' <A class=zem_slink title=Penpals href="http://www.amazon.com/Penpals-Lana-Sundman/dp/1430303425%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dzemanta-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D1430303425" rel=amazon>Penpals</A>. I have seen a bunch of people looking to communicate through people via <A class=zem_slink title="Snail mail" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snail_mail" rel=wikipedia>snail mail</A>. I know that email is so much easier most of the time, but there is something special about getting a letter in the mail. I used to have penpals a long time ago and would love to have some again, especially some who share my love of books. If anyone is interested just let me know.<br /><br />Hope you all had a great weekend - off to read for a little bit...if the kids actually let me:)<br /><br /><DIV class=zemanta-pixie style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><A class=zemanta-pixie-a title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/47c9462b-fe1b-4a2e-a6d3-62217e24e16f/"><IMG class=zemanta-pixie-img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=47c9462b-fe1b-4a2e-a6d3-62217e24e16f"></A></DIV>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-26811958766647890762008-12-13T05:14:00.000-08:002008-12-14T05:20:08.553-08:00Manderfield's BakeryWhen we lived in <a class="zem_slink" title="Manitowoc, Wisconsin" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=44.096461,-87.675002&spn=0.1,0.1&q=44.096461,-87.675002" rel="geolocation" t="'h">Manitowoc</a> we did have a few local bakeries. They were good but did just carry the basic things - a few different <a class="zem_slink" title="Bread" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread" rel="wikipedia">breads</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="Doughnut" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doughnut" rel="wikipedia">donuts</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="Pie" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie" rel="wikipedia">pies</a>, etc... Now that we are in a more populated area we figured we would have more choices. Well, my girls are addicted to coffeecake - it is a Sunday ritual for us to get a few different kinds of <a class="zem_slink" title="Bakery" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakery" rel="wikipedia">bakery</a>, but coffeecake is one that has to be included.<br /><br />A few weeks ago, we forgot to get it when we were shopping (we used to just grab it from the <a class="zem_slink" title="Grocery store" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grocery_store" rel="wikipedia">grocery store</a> when we were there). And, as expensive as it was, we just did it for convenience more than anything (they run about $5 each and aren't that big). So, we started looking for bakeries near us, and were told to go to <a href="http://www.manderfields.com/">Manderfield's. </a> All I can say is WOW! They have a huge selection of things - my personal favorite is the sweet <a class="zem_slink" title="Dough" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dough" rel="wikipedia">dough</a>. It quite large and only costs $2.15. We got the <a class="zem_slink" title="Cherry Pie" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_Pie" rel="wikipedia">Cherry Pie</a> bread and the family has been raving about it. I haven't tried any, but will in the morning with my first cup of coffee.<br /><br />Do you have a favorite type of bakery? A place to get it from?<br /><div class="zemanta-pixie" style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><a class="zemanta-pixie-a" title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/ff7c815d-3823-4e5e-b2bf-44ffd628fe52/"><img class="zemanta-pixie-img" style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=ff7c815d-3823-4e5e-b2bf-44ffd628fe52" /></a></div>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-20371119368785763372008-12-12T03:13:00.000-08:002008-12-13T03:18:35.101-08:00What do some parents think sometimesLast night <a class="zem_slink" title="Grace (Dark Horse Comics)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_%28Dark_Horse_Comics%29" rel="wikipedia">Grace</a> cried herself to sleep. Granted, it was a long and busy day. She had a field trip to the <a class="zem_slink" title="Fox River Mall" href="http://www.foxrivermall.com/html/" rel="homepage">Fox River Mall</a> with her class that lasted all day (she is used to going to school for 2 hours or so a day). They were going to go and shop for gifts for kids that were either in the hospital or staying at the <a class="zem_slink" title="Ronald McDonald House Charities" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_McDonald_House_Charities" rel="wikipedia">Ronald McDonald House</a> - it is such a wonderful place, we stayed there for a few nights while Grace was recovering from her surgery.<br /><br />They were HEAVILY chaperoned with a 1 adult to 2 kid ratio - otherwise there was no way they could go, it's a large mall and is always busy, but at this time of year I am sure it was insane. They also got to go to <a class="zem_slink" title="Build-A-Bear Workshop" href="http://www.buildabear.com/" rel="homepage">Build-a-Bear</a> which the girls have been to many times before (too many) and make an animal for their class. The bear will come home with each child for a week and document what it got to do. Sounds pretty neat.<br /><br />But, the reason she cried was a bad enough one that I actually emailed her teacher about it, even though it wasn't her fault. The woman who was chaperoning Grace was there with her daughter. And she kept buying her daughter things (even though they weren't supposed to) and of course when Grace asked if she could get something of course the answer was no. My poor little girl! How dare this woman buy things in front of her and then tell her she couldn't get anything. I can't imagine doing that, or what would possess you to do that. You couldn't even get her something for a dollar. Either that, or don't buy anything at all, which is what you were supposed to do. My heart broke for her, as she told me that it wasn't fair and cried, all curled up next to me. <br /><br />What do you think?<br /><div class="zemanta-pixie" style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><a class="zemanta-pixie-a" title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/06ae27a5-80ce-44be-9db3-4bd9d7dc2540/"><img class="zemanta-pixie-img" style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=06ae27a5-80ce-44be-9db3-4bd9d7dc2540" /></a></div>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-19446566577934918142008-12-11T05:42:00.000-08:002008-12-12T05:50:45.048-08:0012 Years ago I became an Aunt<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SUJqwi0fCRI/AAAAAAAAAcw/2uOuu9xK-zI/s1600-h/img085.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278899095444850962" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 180px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SUJqwi0fCRI/AAAAAAAAAcw/2uOuu9xK-zI/s320/img085.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />My niece is 12 today. I don't have any current pictures of her available - they need to be scanned and I didn't have time for that. I just wanted to write a quick post about her.<br /><br />She was born at 3:43 P.M., and weighed 8lbs. 10 ozs. She was 20 inches long. I was with my sister the whole way, and it was a hard delivery because she was induced. I don't know what it's like to go into labor naturally as I was induced<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SUJqw9uJznI/AAAAAAAAAdA/W-44CMXZiVU/s1600-h/img092.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278899102666051186" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 205px" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SUJqw9uJznI/AAAAAAAAAdA/W-44CMXZiVU/s320/img092.jpg" border="0" /></a> with <a class="zem_slink" title="Grace (Dark Horse Comics)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_%28Dark_Horse_Comics%29" rel="wikipedia">Grace</a> as well and it means labor comes hard and fast.<br /><br />She was one of the happiest <a class="zem_slink" title="Infant" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infant" rel="wikipedia">babies</a> around, and I have included some of my favorite pictures of her from when she was little (she'd probably kill me if she knew). At 6 months she weighed 21 lbs. That's right, at 6 months. To put that into perspective, Grace is almost 5 and weighs 35 lbs. Granted, she is on the <a class="zem_slink" title="Light" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light" rel="wikipedia">light</a> side in <a class="zem_slink" title="Weight" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weight" rel="wikipedia">weight</a>, but this was one chunky baby. <br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SUJqwfT2bAI/AAAAAAAAAco/_M3THerIkTM/s1600-h/img086.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278899094502665218" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 206px" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/SUJqwfT2bAI/AAAAAAAAAco/_M3THerIkTM/s320/img086.jpg" border="0" /></a>If only you could see her now. At 12 she is lucky if she weighs 70 lbs. She is on the short side - as a <a class="zem_slink" title="Question of fact" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Question_of_fact" rel="wikipedia">matter of fact</a> she hands down her clothes to Grace and they are only about 2 or 3 sizes too big even though there are 8 years between them. <br /><br />But she is one of the greatest kids out there, with wit and attitude to spare. She isn't necessarily disrespectful, she just questions things that she doesn't feel are right.<br /><br />I love you Elizabeth, and hope you have a great birthday!<br /><div class="zemanta-pixie" style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><a class="zemanta-pixie-a" title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/1ffb9f48-b32a-434b-936b-da342accb702/"><img class="zemanta-pixie-img" style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=1ffb9f48-b32a-434b-936b-da342accb702" /></a></div>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-86798836180047110672008-12-10T15:46:00.001-08:002008-12-10T15:46:41.476-08:00This is all I have time forseriously. When they cancel events before the <A class=zem_slink title=Snow href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow" rel=wikipedia>snow</A> even starts. It started snowing here fairly heavy at about 8:30 last night, and by 10 they had cancelled all <A class=zem_slink title=School href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School" rel=wikipedia>schools</A> for the next day. I understand that they are <A class=zem_slink title=Bank href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank" rel=wikipedia>banking</A> on the <A class=zem_slink title=Meteorology href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteorology" rel=wikipedia>meteorologists</A> being right, but how often does that happen, <A class=zem_slink title=LOL href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LOL" rel=wikipedia>lol</A>? Granted, we did get about 9 inches of snow in our area, and it was slow going. Schools should have been cancelled. But why do it so early. They even cancelled things for tonight, and it isn't snowing anymore and the roads are fairly clear (at least the main ones). Oh well, just ranting a little:)<br /><br /><DIV class=zemanta-pixie style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><A class=zemanta-pixie-a title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/497c0a1e-bfd2-460b-9a80-a3e0b3bb14a1/"><IMG class=zemanta-pixie-img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=497c0a1e-bfd2-460b-9a80-a3e0b3bb14a1"></A></DIV>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-4926981439984445572008-12-08T16:26:00.000-08:002008-12-08T16:30:18.531-08:00The night almost got away from meand that would have been bad because I haven't missed a day yet for Nablopomo. Granted, my posts might not be the most interesting, but they're there. As for today, it was <A class=zem_slink title="Grace (Dark Horse Comics)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_%28Dark_Horse_Comics%29" rel=wikipedia>Grace</A>'s first day back at school. They actually got <A class=zem_slink title="Saint Nicholas" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Nicholas" rel=wikipedia>St. Nick</A> <A class=zem_slink title=Stocking href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stocking" rel=wikipedia>stockings</A> at school and right now she is playing <A class=zem_slink title="Old Maid" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Maid" rel=wikipedia>Old Maid</A> with her dad (that was one of the things she got).<br /><br />We had Kielbasa Casserole for <A class=zem_slink title=Supper href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supper" rel=wikipedia>supper</A> - it is one of my hubby's favorites, and I think I will start to post these recipes back on my other blog titled <A href="http://recipease.blogspot.com/">Recipease</A> I used to post there on a pretty regular basis, but you know that life gets in the way sometimes.<br /><br />Other than that not too much is new, except for the fact that we are due for 14 inches of snow over the next two days...sounds like fun, doesn't it?<br /><br />Hope you all have a great night!<br /><br /><DIV class=zemanta-pixie style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><A class=zemanta-pixie-a title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/bde0be4b-4332-435f-84d9-c23267c5ddac/"><IMG class=zemanta-pixie-img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=bde0be4b-4332-435f-84d9-c23267c5ddac"></A></DIV>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-26635838006411875332008-12-07T15:49:00.000-08:002008-12-07T18:15:38.150-08:00Kids with Heart Christmas Party<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STxhqrOWKMI/AAAAAAAAAao/O2fxOqZRiz8/s1600-h/023.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277200249156675778" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STxhqrOWKMI/AAAAAAAAAao/O2fxOqZRiz8/s320/023.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STxhqb5LZnI/AAAAAAAAAag/ugQD-6qaJxc/s1600-h/015.JPG"></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STxhp9OK8PI/AAAAAAAAAaY/HHr_0CzC6bM/s1600-h/009.JPG"></a>We had the <a href="http://www.kidswithheart.org/">Kids with Heart</a> <a class="zem_slink" title="Christmas" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas" rel="wikipedia">Christmas Party</a> today (my daughters are the two in the front, one in a red corduroy dress and the other in an orange corduroy dress. It is such a great time being able to hang out with other families of kids with heart defects. The woman who runs it has an adult son, but continues to participate and help us with the <a class="zem_slink" title="Support group" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Support_group" rel="wikipedia">support group</a>. She funds all of this with proceeds from the Kids With Heart website - the books sold, the bears, etc...<br /><br />We each bring a dish to pass, <a class="zem_slink" title="Pepsi" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepsi" rel="wikipedia">Pepsi</a> provides the beverages, and one of the local bakeries provided the buns and cookies. Each child got 3 gifts...that's right - ALL of the children. Granted, there were probably only 25 or so, but that is still a nice chunk of money being spent. They don't get anything too expensive, but it brings such a light to their eyes to get anything.<br /><br />They also have all sorts of craft project set up - cookies to decorate, pine cones to decorate for ornaments, little mice to make out of felt, etc...the girls had a blast. At the end of the day we met a woman who is actually going to start having support group meeting once a month - this will be fantastic and I for one can't wait. Her little girl (who is 2) has an <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">ASD</span> but it hasn't been operated on - they are hopeful that it will close and no surgery will be necessary. She was telling us that her and her husband tried for 8 years to get pregnant (they had a 10 year old) and after they sold all of the baby stuff they found out they were. When the baby was 4 months old she got <a class="zem_slink" title="Pneumonia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonia" rel="wikipedia">pneumonia</a> and that is when they noticed she had a <a class="zem_slink" title="Heart murmur" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_murmur" rel="wikipedia">heart murmur</a> and that she may need surgery at some point for her heart. Two weeks later, her husband collapsed at work. He was conscious, but had hit his head and it was mandatory that he be taken to the hospital to be checked. When she got to the hospital, she was waiting for the doctor with here daughter when they heard a <a class="zem_slink" title="Hospital emergency codes" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hospital_emergency_codes" rel="wikipedia">Code Blue</a>. 30 minutes later she was met by the clergy - her husbands <a class="zem_slink" title="Aorta" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aorta" rel="wikipedia">aorta</a> had burst and he was dead...at 40. So, not only was she worried about her 5 month old daughter with possible heart issues, she then lost her husband due to a ruptured aorta. Just when you think life is rough and you get down, you meet someone like this and it truly makes you realize how good you have it.<br /><br />Well, off to take care of the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">rugrats</span> - hope you all had a nice Sunday!<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="zemanta-pixie" style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><a class="zemanta-pixie-a" title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/1c6e0104-3c8c-43db-b388-04f070cc4f2a/"><img class="zemanta-pixie-img" style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=1c6e0104-3c8c-43db-b388-04f070cc4f2a" /></a></div>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-70401907263694746292008-12-06T16:12:00.001-08:002008-12-06T16:13:46.455-08:00Another long dayWe went out for the first time in 4 days. That after the girls were up at 6:00 this morning. It's been a very long day and it is starting to hit home. Sorry this is a short post, but I have to get the kids ready for bed (hopefully) and I wanted to get something written so I don't miss a post for Nablopomo. Have a great weekend!Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-75767259635362715362008-12-05T06:36:00.000-08:002008-12-05T06:40:53.326-08:00Zithromax...how long does it take?Well, I have <A class=zem_slink title=Bronchitis href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronchitis" rel=wikipedia>bronchitis</A>. That's ok I guess. The only problem is that I have taken the first two doses and this morning I woke up with a <A class=zem_slink title=Temperature href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperature" rel=wikipedia>temperature</A> of 103 and more <A class=zem_slink title="Chest pain" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chest_pain" rel=wikipedia>chest pain</A> than I had before. So, one more call in to the doctor. I normally wouldn't do that, but even though we are in a fairly populated area, the nearest walk-in is over 20 minutes away. Just need to know if this will kick in, or if because I am still running a <A class=zem_slink title=Fever href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fever" rel=wikipedia>fever</A> something else is going on.<br /><br />We still don't have all the stuff for the girls for <A class=zem_slink title="Saint Nicholas" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Nicholas" rel=wikipedia>St. Nick</A> either. My hubby took the day off - he is feeling better, but better is a relative term. He has one more dose of <A class=zem_slink title=Azithromycin href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azithromycin" rel=wikipedia>Zithromax</A> in his system and is still <A class=zem_slink title=Cough href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cough" rel=wikipedia>coughing</A> up stuff. The kids - that's <A class=zem_slink title="A Different Story" href="http://www.amazon.com/Different-Story-Deadeye-Dick/dp/B000000N5B%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dzemanta-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB000000N5B" rel=amazon>a different story</A>. Ella (who has <A class=zem_slink title=Pneumonia href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonia" rel=wikipedia>pneumonia</A>) and Grace (who has bronchitis) are playing and goofing around as much as they always do. I actually beg them to calm down - my fear is that they will end up in the <A class=zem_slink title=Hospital href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hospital" rel=wikipedia>hospital</A>, and we have a Kids With Heart party on Sunday with Santa. We don't want to miss it so we need to start feeling a whole lot better than we are now.<br /><br />Hope you all have a good Friday!<br /><br /><DIV class=zemanta-pixie style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><A class=zemanta-pixie-a title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/31dcb567-bc0c-46e7-acb8-2bfc203ad5a8/"><IMG class=zemanta-pixie-img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=31dcb567-bc0c-46e7-acb8-2bfc203ad5a8"></A></DIV>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-28183328186947182602008-12-04T10:05:00.000-08:002008-12-04T10:20:18.875-08:00Happy 74th Birthday Nana!<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STgcurOOgTI/AAAAAAAAAaA/WRCMUsBA7XY/s1600-h/Picture+079.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275998551666491698" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STgcurOOgTI/AAAAAAAAAaA/WRCMUsBA7XY/s320/Picture+079.jpg" border="0" /></a> Today my <a class="zem_slink" title="Nana (manga)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nana_(manga)" rel="wikipedia">Nana</a> turns 74. I have put a picture of her and my Papa holding Grace when she was born and a picture of her holding Ella when she was born. I wasn't able to find my more current pictures, but that's ok because this is the way I like to remember her.<br /><br />Her health has deteriorated quite a bit over the last 4 years. She has had two angioplasties, a <a class="zem_slink" title="Hip replacement" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_replacement" rel="wikipedia">hip replacement</a>, and now suffers with end stage <a class="zem_slink" title="Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_obstructive_pulmonary_disease" rel="wikipedia">COPD</a> and <a class="zem_slink" title="Gallbladder" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallbladder" rel="wikipedia">gall bladder</a> problems. She actually should have her gall bladder removed but her lungs would not survive the surgery so she instead needs to try and control her attacks through diet. There is no hope of excercise for her, as both of her knees need to be replaced. They are actually bone on bone at this point, but again there is no chance for surgery. She also has been on steroids for too long, so now they have to try and wean her off. This will cause her more pain, and could make it even more difficult for her to breathe. Add this to the fact that her oxygen is no longer covered by <a class="zem_slink" title="Medicare (United States)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_(United_States)" rel="wikipedia">Medicare</a> so she has to worry about how to pay for it. You can just imagine what kind of life she has.<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STgc6dyyfpI/AAAAAAAAAaI/J1dJQBsX8wI/s1600-h/Picture+299.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275998754220179090" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_uGIWAYcoBeE/STgc6dyyfpI/AAAAAAAAAaI/J1dJQBsX8wI/s320/Picture+299.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />But, that said, this is one of the strongest women I know. She insisted on doing <a class="zem_slink" title="Thanksgiving" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving" rel="wikipedia">Thanksgiving</a> at her house (like she has every year since I've been born) and she does EVERYTHING. And, this is for over 30 people just for the main meal, with other people coming later in the day (we usually eat at noon). She has had a rough life, but no matter what I can call her and she always makes me feel better. Even though I tell her how much I love her, and how much she means to me, I'm not sure words can express how grateful I am to have had such a wonderful role model for my life. I only hope that I can be half the woman she has been, and I hope that if I face some of the circumstances that she has, I will have the strength she has tried to instill in me to get through them as she has.<br /><br />Happy Birthday Nana - I love you!<br /><br /><br /><div class="zemanta-pixie" style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><a class="zemanta-pixie-a" title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/5dca5f0e-ced4-4e47-b394-571f7a75d327/"><img class="zemanta-pixie-img" style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=5dca5f0e-ced4-4e47-b394-571f7a75d327" /></a></div>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3664313521390486779.post-69689484938033646092008-12-03T05:28:00.000-08:002008-12-03T05:33:55.368-08:00A quick postSorry that this one has to be short but I have to get it in before all hell breaks loose here. We all went to the doctor yesterday and all of us have <A class=zem_slink title=Bronchitis href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronchitis" rel=wikipedia>bronchitis</A> except for <A class=zem_slink title="Ella Chen" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ella_Chen" rel=wikipedia>Ella</A>. She has <A class=zem_slink title=Pneumonia href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonia" rel=wikipedia>pneumonia</A>. So, it's going to be a long day. No school again for <A class=zem_slink title="Grace Holloway" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_Holloway" rel=wikipedia>Grace</A> for at least today, but maybe the rest of the week.<br /><br />I also am going to be posting about a loss in the book community later on this week. Maybe today if I get some time. Dewey at <A href="http://deweymonster.com/">The Hidden Side of the Leaf </A>passed away last Tuesday. For those of you that don't know her or haven't checked out her blog you really should. <br /><br />Hopefully I'll be able to write some more later.<br /><br /><DIV class=zemanta-pixie style="MARGIN-TOP: 10px; HEIGHT: 15px"><A class=zemanta-pixie-a title="Zemified by Zemanta" href="http://reblog.zemanta.com/zemified/f4a450b0-09a8-41a6-b8dc-b698604b6ab0/"><IMG class=zemanta-pixie-img style="BORDER-RIGHT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; FLOAT: right; BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-BOTTOM: medium none" alt="Reblog this post [with Zemanta]" src="http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=f4a450b0-09a8-41a6-b8dc-b698604b6ab0"></A></DIV>Traceehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05006384589210256536noreply@blogger.com1
